Ecuador:
Orientation to the South America group semester will begin in Ecuador’s capital city of Quito before traveling to the coast to volunteer on a local organic farm and participate with local service projects.
Travel to the Andean colonial town of Cuenca to begin Spanish classes. While attending language classes you’ll live with local families and divide up your day between studying the language and participating with local service projects.
From Cuenca you will travel to the Amazon to work with a ecotourism project in an indigenous community, explore the jungle, and learn sustainable methods to protect biological and cultural diversity. This service project will be followed by a trip across the diverse country which can include a visit to the indigenous market of Otavalo or a visit to Banos to enjoy the natural hot springs.
Peru:
Fly to Peru to explore the Andean regions and ancient Incan ruins. In Peru you’ll live with local families and study for two weeks at a language school in the friendly mountain town of Arequipa. Travel to Cusco to explore the Sacred Valley and hike the ancient Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. While in Peru you’ll also participate in a week-long spiritual retreat.
