Group Semester in South America

Ecuador:

Orientation to the South America group semester will start at a small village outside of Ecuador’s capital city of Quito before starting the first two weeks of language classes. While attending language classes in Ecuador you’ll live with an Ecuadoran family as well as divide up your day between studying the language and participating with local service projects.

After the language classes in Ecuador, volunteer with an indigenous community in the Amazon region and learn sustainable methods to protect bio and cultural diversity. The travels in the Amazon will be followed by a trip across the diverse country which can include a visit to the indigenous market of Otavalo or a trip to Isla de la Plata to enjoy some snorkeling and wildlife tours.

Peru:

Fly to Peru to explore the Andean regions and ancient Incan ruins.  In Peru you’ll live with local families and study for two weeks at a language school in the friendly mountain town of Arequipa.  Travel to Cusco to explore the Sacred Valley and hike the ancient Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.  While in Peru you’ll also participate in a week long spiritual retreat.

Argentina:

Travel to Argentina to explore the Patagonia and the diversity of the Andean region of South America.  While in Argentina you’ll work with a local project to learn about eco dwellings and permaculture in the Patagonia.  Finish your journey in South America with a 5 day horse back trip in the Andes.
